Our diptychs are professionally printed and then pasted with non-toxic glue onto basswood by hand in our studio. Unlike icons which are hand-painted, lithographed or pasted onto gold leaf, our icons are made to be durable so that your child can handle it independently and without fear of damage (within reason).
The matching icons were chosen because of their traditional use but also because of their physical appeal to children. The realistic portrayal is relatable. The light colors are attractive. This version originates from Eastern Europe and the original Church Slavonic writing has been replaced with English, a rare feature.
